Literacy Education Volunteer Program

Classroom Volunteers

  • Work in Adult Basic Education (ABE) or in English as a Second Language (ESL) classes.
  • Classes meet two mornings or evenings a week for 2½ or 3 hours per session. 
  • Volunteers may choose to assist in one or two class sessions per week.
  • No specialized training is necessary.

The Literacy Education Department offers volunteer opportunities in the classroom instructional program.

Classroom volunteers assist instructors in Adult Basic Education (ABE) or in English as a Second Language (ESL) classes which are held at locations throughout Harford County. Classes meet two evenings or mornings a week for 2 1/2 or 3 hours per session. Volunteers may choose to assist in one or two class sessions per week.
