Statement of Purpose of Subject Guides:

The Harford Community College (HCC) Library’s online subject guides (or LibGuides) are created by HCC librarians for the purpose of providing convenient access to curated, subject-specific resources. These resources include, but are not limited to, books, videos, audio recordings, databases, websites, PowerPoint presentations, and handouts. Librarians create subject guides based on determined need and for various purposes, including to support specific courses or orientations, to supplement information pertaining to a campus exhibit or event, or to provide access to information on a timely topic. HCC faculty and staff may make a request to have a guide created for any of these or other purposes; contact the HCC librarians for more information.

Intellectual Freedom Statement:

In striving for excellence in providing service at HCC, the Library is guided by the principles set forth in the American Library Association Bill of Rights. The Library's resources are designed to include diverse viewpoints rather than to support any one view of a particular topic or issue. Some material may be offensive to individuals or groups for many possible reasons. The Library does not endorse any particular viewpoint or belief represented in any particular resource. The Library’s role is to provide access to information that will allow individuals to examine issues freely and make their own decisions, and to ensure that diverse viewpoints are represented in support of academic offerings and to suit the varied backgrounds of the campus population.
