Because the success of the College relies on the entire community. Together we have accomplished great things over the past 60 years and it is together that we will move forward to create more. Are you ready to celebrate? We certainly are—and we hope you will join us!

Getting Started

Little by little you’ll see the signs—a 60th anniversary logo, advertising that highlights our successes, events that welcome you to campus—signs that Our History is Only the Beginning is more than an anniversary tagline. It’s a promise. Our hope is that you will come back to this site throughout the year and join us as we look back on our rich 60 year history, and more importantly, celebrate all that is still to come.

Flip through yearbooks, learn about the theater and the barn, and relive the glory of the championship football team. Exhibit included memorabilia and exhibit panels focusing on the College’s 60 years and runs September 5-December 22.

& Constitution Day Celebration

Celebrate the Library’s 50th anniversary in the Federal Depository Library Program and recognize Constitution Day.

A romp through American pop culture in the 1950s. When HCC was founded in 1957, who were the students listening to on the radio? How did they spend their free time? Wear your poodle skirts and leather jackets!

Historical Walking Tour
Harford Community College is situated on a former thoroughbred horse farm. How did it transition from farm land and barns to the modern state-of-the-art buildings we have today?

Speaker Series: Deadliest Catch
Herpetologist and toxinologist Zoltan Takacs explained how he and his colleagues have developed a state-of-the-art technology that provides a novel way to develop new toxin-based drugs for various diseases, from cancer to circulatory disorders.

Harford Community College honored those who so generously shared their myriad of memories and stories with Professor of History Dr. James Karmel for the College’s 60^th Anniversary Oral History project. They shared compelling stories of how we’ve come to be where we are today and shared in the vision of all that is yet to come. Thanks to all that joined in celebrating our past, our present, and the journey that lies ahead.

Heather L. Hurd 5K Spooktacular
Help us scare away distracted driving! Explore Harford’s campus on a course that is great for runners and walkers alike. Children will delight in all the treats of the Children’s Area, a costume contest, and the chance to take pictures with special guest characters. There will also be exhibitors and interactive displays for all ages.

Celebrate our 60th with a fun day for the entire family! In the APGFCU Arena our Fall Open House (showcasing all of the College’s programs and services) features interactive displays, demos, and performances for all ages. Throughout campus there will be games and activities, food trucks, live music, hot-air balloon rides and more! In the Chesapeake Center and Hays-Heighe House, view our 60th anniversary oral history video project highlighting the history of HCC through interviews, take a historical walking tour of campus, and see our anniversary exhibit.

Stayin Alive: Bee Gees Tribute
Encompassing more than five decades of legendary music and the distinctive vocal sound of the Bee Gees at their very best, Stayin Alive offers a unique opportunity for fans to rediscover the music that has ensured the Bee Gees’ place as one of the most loved bands of all time.
