The first annual Women in Non-Traditional Careers Open House will take place on Thursday, May 3 from 3 to 7 PM at Harford Community College’s Edgewood Hall. Industry representatives will be available with information on a wide variety of career options including applied engineering, IT/programming and cybersecurity, commercial truck driving, manufacturing, electrical, heavy equipment operations, and more. Tours of Edgewood Hall workforce labs will be given, and hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will be available. The Open House is free and open to the public; reservations are not required.

Keynote speaker Stephanie Hau, President and CEO of Chesapeake Environmental Management, Inc., will present at approximately 5:30 PM on the topic of “How to Make a Life, Not Just a Living: Choosing a Career Based on Your Talents.” Additional speakers beginning at 3:30 PM include Ronn Blaney, Training Director for the Harford County Electrical Contractors Association and Apprenticeship Program, who will speak about women in apprenticeships; Pat Hogan, an independent consultant, who will speak about non-traditional careers for women and small business ownership; and Susie Comer, Owner/President/Treasurer of Comer Construction, Inc., who will speak about women in construction careers.
