World War I and Modernism: Literature

  • November 27 (Tuesday), 2:30-4 PM, Hays-Heighe House at Harford Community College

The traumas and dislocations of World War I left their mark on the physical landscape, on traditional institutions, and on individual psyches. Looking particularly at modernism, Scott West, Assistant Professor of Literature at Harford Community College, will talk about the ways that reactions to the war interacted with existing movements in literature and fueled the rise of new styles of expression. Harford County’s own Bel Air Community Band, under the direction of Scott Sharnetzka, will perform a variety of contemporary and traditional band and wind ensemble music appropriate to the season. Free; no ticket needed.

NEW –  Harford Dance Theatre holds Snow White Auditions

Dancers 11 years of age and older may audition. Dancers should wear appropriate dance attire and bring dance shoes for all styles of dance for which they wish to be considered.
