If you’re creative and enjoy socializing, consider a career as a manicurist. Harford Community College offers Nail Technician training approved by the Maryland State Department of Education that prepares students for the state-required examination to become a licensed manicurist. Consisting of three parts, the program begins each fall and finishes in June. Students must complete all three courses to be eligible to apply for the state exam.

The first of the three required courses begins September 5 and runs through December 19. Classes meet Monday and Thursday evenings from 6 to 9:15 p.m. and include theory, demonstration, and practical application. Students must register for Nail Technician I by August 30. Tuition assistance is available to those who qualify through the HCC Presidential Grant Scholarship (443-412-2163 or email training@harford.edu) or Susquehanna Workforce Network (410-939-4240). Senior adult and disabled retiree course fee waivers apply. A textbook and workbook are required before the first class; they can be purchased at the College Store on the lower level of the Student Center.
