Harford Community College held its Sixty-Second Annual Commencement virtually on Thursday, May 21. The ceremony celebrated the approximately 1,000 graduates of the Class of 2020.

The celebration included congratulatory remarks from Jacqueline Jackson, PhD, Interim President of Harford Community College, Rev. Cordell E. Hunter, Sr., Chair, Harford Community College Board of Trustees, and many others.

The HCC Class of 2020 includes August and December 2019 graduates and May 2020 candidates for graduation. The names of all the graduates were included in the virtual ceremony.

Quinn Bero delivered the Student Graduate Address. A member of the Rho Beta Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, the international honor society of two-year colleges at Harford Community College, he was recently named a 2020 Coca-Cola Academic Team Gold Scholar.

Patrick Voelker received the Outstanding Student Leadership Award. The award recognizes a student who has made significant overall contributions to the College and community where personal time, effort, and dedication are evident, and have earned a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Patrick, who earned an Associate of Arts in Philosophy with High Honors, will transfer to the University of Toronto this fall. He is a member of the College’s Honors Program and has served as both President and Secretary of the Honors Student Council. He participated in both the 2019 Alternative Spring Break service learning trip to New Orleans and the 2020 Alternative Winter Break trip to Key West. He has completed the Emerging Leaders and Leaders in Action programs at the College and was the first to ever complete both programs in one academic year.

Those joining the virtual ceremony were able to add comments, congratulate HCC graduates, and cheer right along in real time with Dr. Jackson, Vice Presidents, faculty and staff.
