Grants also known as "gift aid" is typically aid that does not need to be repaid and is given to students who demonstrate financial need.
These grants are funded from many different sources, including:
All students must complete their FAFSA Application at studentaid.gov in order to be considered for both federal and state aid eligibility. For the 2020-2021 academic year, students will use income information from 2018.
Most popular programs include, the Federal Pell Grant, which has a maximum award of $6,345 annually for the 2020-2021 academic year.
Students eligible for the Pell Grant may be able to receive a third disbursement of the Pell grant during the same academic year. Students must be enrolled at least half-time (6 credits) for the summer semester.
Over $100 million in need-based grants and merit scholarships through the state’s 22 programs is awarded each year.
