Constitution Day and Voter Registration
09 September 2021
Harford Community College will celebrate Constitution Day 2021 for two days on Tuesday, September 14 and Wednesday, September 15. The events are open to students, employees and the general public; masks are required in all indoor settings. Constitution Day is a celebration of the signing of the U.S. Constitution on September 17, 1787. The date is also designated Citizenship Day to focus on the rights and responsibilities of citizens under the Constitution.
On September 14 and 15, representatives from the Harford County Board of Elections will be available to help with voter registration from 10 AM to 2 PM at tables located on the second floor of the College’s Library. The representatives can assist students, staff, and visitors with submitting new voter registrations, checking voter status, submitting election judge applications, and providing information on general elections. Stop by to spin their prize wheel; answer some election and voting trivia questions and win a prize!
Voter registration applications, government resources from the Government Publishing Office, pocket constitutions and free giveaways will be available on tables located on the second floor of the Library. While there, visitors are invited to stop by and view the displays related to the Constitution, 1st and 2nd amendments, and recent government-issued reports and resources on human trafficking.
See these Library displays continued in virtual elements in resource links, videos, and PowerPoints on the Constitution Day LibGuide.
The Harford Library has been providing free access to government resources for 54 years through its participation in the Federal Depository Library Program.
Also on Tuesday, September 14, Harford’s Behavioral & Social Sciences Division will hold a panel discussion focused on “The Constitution, Voting Rights and Federalism" from 12:30 to 1:30 PM in the Student Center, Room 243. All are welcome to attend or to join the panel discussion via MS Teams, if preferred.
National Voter Registration Day is also coming up on Tuesday, September 28. The College’s Office of Student Life is hosting National Voter Registration Day in conjunction with the Wellness Fair that day from 10 AM to 1 PM on the Quad. In the event of rain, the event will be held in the Student Center. Information for students enrolled in a Maryland college is available at Register to vote!
