Harford Community College offers several opportunities to obtain scholarships, tuition assistance, and payment plans for those looking to increase their earning potential, upgrade job skills, secure a license or certification, or advance their career. Eligibility, requirements, and availability are based on several factors and are outlined below.
Funding Options
Maryland's Community College Promise Scholarships are available for career and workforce programs leading to certification, licensure, or apprenticeship. The scholarship pays up to $5,000 a year for tuition and fees. FAFSA® is not required for career and workforce students to apply.

An annual scholarship available to students enrolled in workforce training at Harford Community College. The awards are based on student(s) needs and discretion.
Scholarship Criteria
- Harford County Resident (preferred, not required)
- Financial Need (preferred, not required)
- Enrolled in Workforce Training Program at Harford Community College
- The scholarship applicant must write a 200-250 essay describing their career goals, and address how receiving a scholarship will help them attain goals.
First year Kanaras Family Scholarship recipients will be required to attend the Box Hill Pizzeria 40th Anniversary Celebration tentatively scheduled for August 2024.
These scholarships are available to those enrolled in specified career and workforce programs at Harford's Leading Edge Training Center Powered by the Ratcliffe Foundation. Scholarships provide full funding for those accepted as well as opportunities to meet with local employers.

The following Workforce Development programs are approved as eligible for Maryland's
Workforce Development Sequence Scholarship:
A+ Certification | Certified Nursing Assistant | Drone Technology | Heavy Equipment
Operator | HVAC | Nurse Refresher | Paramedic and Phlebotomy Technician
This state funded scholarship is available to Maryland residents or graduates of a Maryland High School that are registering for an approved Workforce Development program—both new and current students may apply. Up to $2,000.00 per fiscal year can be awarded.
Applications are reviewed in the order received and based on available funding.

This College-funded scholarship is awarded based on financial need. Any student registering for a workforce program may apply. Funding covers both tuition and fees.

This scholarship is available to students who are accepted into Harford's Paramedic Program and meet the eligibility requirement. One scholarship, up to $5,000, is awarded per cohort. Funds may be used toward tuition, fees, textbooks and program associated costs.
The Rockfield Manor Foundation Scholarship is awarded to a Harford County resident who is pursuing a Workforce Development certificate at Harford. The $1,000 award may be used for tuition, course fees, textbooks, required supplies or uniforms, and can be used in combination with other awarded scholarships.
Students must submit a scholarship narrative and an interview may be requested by the Harford Community College CET Scholarship Committee. Recipients may be required to participate in a photo opportunity.
APPLICANTS MUST:
- Be in good financial standing with the College
- Successfully complete required assessment tests prior to applying for grant
- Be at least 18 years old
- Be a Harford County resident
This grant is funded by Harford Community College, and is not federally funded; FAFSA applications do not apply.
Continued funding for required courses in any program is contingent upon successful completion of each successive course and available funding.
Reverend Cordell Hunter, Sr., Trustee, HCC, established this annual scholarship of $500 in memory of Lionel Hunter, who used his passion for vocational skill development and entrepreneurship to empower others.
This scholarship provides assistance to students who are engaged in vocational skilled areas, apprenticeship programs, and workforce partnerships.

SELECTION CRITERIA:
2.75+ cumulative GPA required.
Must be Harford County resident.
Faculty, staff, and colleagues of former Business, Education, Computing & Applied Technology Dean John F. Mayhorne established the John F. Mayhorne Workforce Development Scholarship for students graduating from a Harford County Public School career and technology education program. The $500 scholarship is awarded to a student enrolled in a Continuing Education and Training apprenticeship or workforce development program.
SELECTION CRITERIA:
Financial need preferred, but not required.
Must be Harford County resident.
This $250 annual scholarship, created in memory of Fisher Doan, is available to a student enrolled in the Veterinary Assistant program at Harford Community College.
SELECTION CRITERIA:
Financial need required. The scholarship applicant must write a 200-250 word essay
describing their goals for a career in veterinary services, and how receiving a scholarship
will help them attain these goals.
Interested students should contact the Veterinary Assistant program coordinator.
Susquehanna Workforce Network (SWN) funds programs that upskill incumbent and unemployed workers. SWN representatives are on campus at Harford's Workforce Training Center at Water's Edge every Thursday from 1–4:30 PM. To learn more, contact:

Students currently eligible to receive VA educational benefits may use them toward an approved workforce or allied health program*.
Once you register for the approved program you must complete and submit the following forms to vetsmilitary@harford.edu.
- Harford’s VA Certification Request Form
- Copy of your VA Certificate/Letter of Eligibility.
The VA takes an average of 30 days to make a decision on your benefits. Apply early so you can submit your eligibility letter at least two weeks prior to the start of your program.

Harford Community College offers a payment plan that allows you to make monthly payments toward your tuition and fees. To be eligible, you must owe a minimum of $500 toward a current career and workforce program.
Many banks offer low-interest alternative education loans.
