Campus Safety

Public Safety officers are committed to maintaining a safe environment for students, employees, and visitors to our campus, 24-hours per day, 365 days per year.

Harford puts a high priority on campus safety. Our public safety officers regularly patrol and inspect all buildings on campus to ensure a safe and comfortable academic environment and provide physical security, investigative services, public safety education, first aid, and other assistance as needed.

To maintain this level of safety on our campus, we ask everyone to do their part by being alert and getting involved. Students are required to abide by the Code for Student Rights, Responsibilities, and Conduct, as well as all College policies, regulations, and procedures, and visitors to campus must be aware of and follow procedures when attending events or using our facilities. If you feel that someone you know may be a danger to themselves or others, contact Public Safety or, if the threat is not imminent, complete a Harford Cares referral form and someone will reach out.

Public safety can be reached from campus phones located throughout campus, as well as by calling 443.412.2272.

Emergency Notifications and Closures

Harford Community College uses the ALERT ME emergency notification system to provide urgent information to students and employees in the event of a non-scheduled College closing or emergency.

If an off-campus location (APG, Harford County Public Schools, Leading Edge Training Center, etc.) closes, Harford Community College classes at that particular location will also close, even if the main campus is still open. If the main campus closes, all classes and activities at off-campus sites will also close.

Communication Outlets

The College communicates important information through several media outlets, as listed below. Although we do our best to reach everyone, there are instances where a notification from one media outlet does not get updated as quickly as another. It is a student's responsibility to sign up for alerts and follow several outlets.
