Harford Community College Hosts Harford County Public Schools Students for Exploration Day
28 April 2022
Each spring, Harford hosts Exploration Days designed to give prospective students a day on campus to learn about programs available in their interest area. It provides an opportunity to dig deeper into the program that they may want to study. Our visiting students learn about careers, sit in on classes, meet Harford students and faculty, and experience firsthand what it's like to be a student at Harford.
Approximately 50 high school students from Harford County Public Schools attended Harford Community College’s Exploration Day on April 4, 2022. Students received information about programs offered by the College’s Workforce and Community Education Division.
Harford Community College staff Matt Baylis, Apprenticeship Coordinator; Denise Carnaggio, APG Liaison and Strategic Partnership Coordinator; Nancy Dow, Administrative Assistant; Laura Hutton, Associate Professor of Teacher Education; Mo Stiemke, Career Navigator for Workforce Development & Harford Youth Workforce Academy; and Kelly Zajicek, Assistant Director for Workforce Development, spoke to the student group before they headed out to tour classrooms in the fields of allied health professions, HVAC, dog grooming, electrical contracting, and computer technology. In addition to learning about the programs, students also received information about available funding assistance, participated in a Q & A session, and enjoyed lunch.
