MHEC Approves Modifications to Harford’s Business Administration Certificate
06 June 2023
The Business Administration Certificate program at Harford Community College has been substantially modified. The total number of credits required to complete the certificate has been reduced from 24 to 16, allowing students to earn a certificate faster than before. Changes to the program are effective in fall 2023. The Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) has approved the revisions to the certificate program.
The Business Administration Lower-Level Certificate is designed for students who have completed a bachelor’s degree in a field other than business administration. As such, this certificate is intended to provide students with a business administration foundation that will prepare them for many federal government management and administrative positions. Although some of the courses in this certificate may transfer into the A.S. Business Administration and A.A.S. Business Management degrees, the purpose of this certificate is to provide the necessary additional business administration courses that will enable students to meet federal government management and administrative related position requirements.
Required courses include BA 101 Introduction to Business, BA 210 Business Computer Applications or CIS 102 Introduction to Information Sciences, BA 203 Principles of Marketing, ACCT 101 Accounting Principles I, ACCT 107 Spreadsheet Applications for Accounting, and ACCT 102 Accounting Principles II.
