Horse-Human Communication – Share Your Input at a Harford Community College Focus Group!

Join us for an informal focus group to discuss how we communicate with our animals, specifically horses, on Tuesday, June 20 from 6 to 8 PM in Darlington Hall, Room 228 on the Harford Community College campus.

People can communicate with horses by touch, talk, and tone of voice. Are there other ways for handlers to communicate with a horse?  Do horses pick up on their handler’s emotions? Horses use body language, verbal sounds such as a whinny or squeal, and facial expressions to communicate with their handlers. Have you experienced other means of communication used by a horse to communicate with a person?

Community interest has been expressed in understanding and improving communication between handler and horse, so the goal of the focus group is to hear your thoughts as we develop a new course to meet this need.
