IS IT RIGHT FOR ME? INFO SESSIONS TO BE HELD IN AUGUST
12 July 2023
Harford Community College is holding a free information session, “Is IT Right for ME?” on Tuesday, August 8 at 6 PM virtually via Microsoft Teams and in person on Wednesday, August 23 at 6 PM in the College’s Edgewood Hall, Room 215. Both sessions will provide attendees with the same one-hour presentation.
The first half of the night’s agenda describes the field of Information Technology (IT) in broad strokes and the employment landscape locally and nationally. The second half of the presentation provides participants with the options for gaining credentials at Harford Community College toward a career in IT, including credit programs, certificate programs, and industry certification prep programs.
The presentation is divided into three parts. Part one provides participants with an overview of the IT industry. Part two covers the employment landscape locally and nationally. Part three explores the universal skills needed to work in IT as well as the specific skills and credentials needed to land the most common IT job titles. The session ends with a presentation of the College’s many options for pursuing IT credentials and explain the difference between an Associate of Science (AS) degree, Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree, certificate, and industry certification program. Participants will be invited to take a free aptitude test at the end of the evening.
