Local Phi Theta Kappa Chapter Inducts New Members

Harford Community College’s Rho Beta Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), the International Honor Society of two-year colleges, inducted new members into the Honor Society in a ceremony on March 13 in the College’s Darlington Hall.

The Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society recognizes and encourages scholarship among two-year college students. To be eligible for membership, a student must have earned 12 credits at Harford Community College and have a cumulative GPA of 3.5.

The ceremony opened with a greeting from Olivia Borkowski-Johnson, President of Rho Beta, and a welcome from Dr. Theresa B. Felder, Harford Community College President. Jennifer Wilcox, Assistant Professor, Chemistry, was the faculty speaker at the event, and the student speaker was Natalie Jarrett-Brune.

New PTK members for spring 2024 who attended the ceremony include the following: Soraya Abuhantash, Lindsey Adey-Layton, Tyler Bennett, Thomas Bock, Kari Burcham, Madison Coons, Logan Davis, Nicole Govan, Lilyana Herbert, Natalie Jarrett-Brune, Natalie Kaminsky, Eden King, Susie Lovaglio, Jess Lynch, Tamsyn Mackey, Ryan Myat, Levance Myers, Leah Pastrano, Eddie Pressley, Heather Reider, Nicholas Richards, Brianna Taylor, Austin Washington, Mackenzie White, and Lorelai Williams. There are approximately 90 new members of the chapter since the last PTK induction ceremony.

Officers of the Rho Beta Chapter of PTK are Olivia Borkowski-Johnson, President; Nicole Govan, Vice President; and Alicia Dudley, Vice President. Govan and Borkowski-Johnson made closing remarks at the event.

Marc Minnick, Dean for Business and Applied Technology, and Jennifer Wilcox are the PTK advisors of the Rho Beta Chapter at the College.
