Harford Community College to Hold 2nd Harford Equity Summit

Harford Community College is holding its 2nd Harford Equity Summit, Standing Together: The Value of Allyship, on Tuesday, June 11 from 9 AM to 3 PM in Darlington Hall (2nd floor) on the College campus.Harford Community College is holding its 2nd Harford Equity Summit, Standing Together: The Culture of Allyship, on Tuesday, June 11 from 9 AM to 3 PM in Darlington Hall (2nd floor) on the College campus.

Join us for a day of discussion, reflection, and action. There will be two distinguished keynote speakers: Jeannie Gainsburg, author of “The Savvy Ally: A Guide for Becoming a Skilled LGBTQ+ Advocate,” and Dr. Mejdulene Shomali, Associate Professor in the Department of Gender, Women’s, and Sexuality Studies at UMBC. In addition, there will be engaging panels featuring faculty, staff, and students.

The event, which includes breakfast and lunch, is open to community members at no cost. Registration is required. There are a limited number of spaces available; register here.

The Summit will conclude with an award ceremony honoring those at the College who have made significant contributions to equity and diversity. The Harford Community College Equity Awards will be presented to one faculty, one staff, and one community member.

The event is being organized by Susan Muaddi Darraj, Associate Professor of English, smuaddid@harford.edu; Suzanne Gallihue, Assistant Director of Financial Aid, sgallihue@harford.edu; Sharoll Love, Student Diversity Specialist, slove@harford.edu.
