Harford Community College Receives Nurse Support Grant

17 June 2024

The Maryland Health Services Cost Review Commission (HSCRC) and the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) have awarded Harford Community College a grant of $48,995 under the Nurse Support Program II to fund professional development opportunities for Harford’s full-time nursing faculty.

The Nurse Support Program (NSP) is designed to increase the number of nurses in Maryland hospitals. The program is split into two parts: NSP-I and NSP-II, with the first part focused on hospitals and the latter part focused on nurse education at Maryland colleges.

This grant will enable Harford’s faculty to attend up to nine conferences that were pre-chosen by the Nursing and Allied Health division’s administration and approved by MHEC. The goals of this grant will be to empower faculty with knowledge to aid in: an increase in student NCLEX-RN pass rates, an increase in graduation rates, and an increase in student and faculty retention rates.

The one-year grant will begin on July 1, 2024 with the first professional development opportunity scheduled for September 2024.
