Harford Community College Awarded Grant to Support Voter Registration

02 July 2024

National Voter Registration Day (NVRD) Harford Community College in Bel Air, Maryland has received a grant from National Voter Registration Day (NVRD) to fund engagement with students to promote voter registration and participation in the electoral process.

National Voter Registration Day is September 17. According to its website, NVRD is a “nonpartisan civic holiday dedicated to celebrating our democracy.” Since 2012, the holiday and its thousands of partner organizations have registered more than 5 million Americans to vote in upcoming elections. The teams involved in registration participate in coordinated field, digital and media activities to engage would-be voters with their democracy.

Harford will focus registration efforts on first-time voters, underrepresented groups, transfer students, and nontraditional students. Utilizing strategies such as peer-to-peer outreach, virtual engagement, gamification, community partnership, and course curriculum integration, the Office of Student Life aims to boost the number of voters registered in time to vote in the 2024 election.
