New Kanaras Family Scholarship Established for Harford Community College Students in Workforce Programs

18 September 2024

Thanks to the generosity of the Kanaras family, a new scholarship has been established for eligible Harford Community College students enrolled in select workforce development programs. Virginia Navarro and Sharon Zachry, two of the first recipients of Kanaras Family Scholarships, were recognized at the Box Hill Pizzaria’s 40th Anniversary Celebration held on September 8. A third scholarship recipient, Zachary Miller, was unable to attend. Box Hill Pizzaria is owned by the Kanaras family.

The scholarship is awarded based on students meeting the following criteria:

  • Harford County resident (preferred, but not required)
  • Financial need (preferred, not required)
  • Enrolled in a workforce training program at Harford Community College
  • The scholarship applicant must write a 200-250 word essay describing their career goals and address how receiving a scholarship will help them attain those goals.

To apply for the scholarship, visit this page and click on the application box.

The scholarships are awarded through the Harford Community College Foundation. The College’s Foundation provides scholarships that support students working to obtain a college degree or certificate. To ensure student success, the Foundation provides resources to help remove financial barriers preventing them from pursuing and completing their education.
