Harford Youth Orchestra and Harford String Orchestra Celebrate 25 Years

The Harford Youth Orchestra and Harford String Orchestra are celebrating their 25th anniversary season with Harford Community College with a fall concert on Saturday, November 23, at 1 PM in the Amoss Center. The concert is free and open to the public, but reservations are recommended.
The Harford String Orchestra, under the direction of Anne Pape, will present the following works: “Shadow Fire,” by Randal Standridge; “Adoration,” by Florence Price; “Sinfonia in D,” by Johann Stamitz; “Canarios,” from Suite Espanola by Gaspar Sanz; “Academic Festival Overture,” by Johannes Brahms; “a word for dreamers,” by Harford County’s own Megan DiGeorgio; and “Dance the Night,” by Lipa, Wyatt, Ronson, and Ailin.
Harford Youth Orchestra, under the direction of Brian Folus, will perform “Hopak,” by Modest Mussorgsky; “Bacchanale,” from Samson and Delilah by Camille Saint-Saens; “John Henry,” by Aaron Copland; “In the Bleak Midwinter,” by Gustav Holst; and “Fanfare for Freedom,” by Paul Barker.
The high school-aged Harford Youth Orchestra and middle school-aged String Orchestra provide an extension experience for string, wind, and percussion students. The orchestras serve youth in northeastern Maryland and neighboring areas of Pennsylvania and Delaware. Harford Youth Orchestra membership is open by audition to all grade 9-12 string students and grade 8-12 wind and percussion students currently enrolled in their school orchestra or band program, where available. Harford String Orchestra membership is open by audition to all grade 6-8 string students or students with at least two years playing experience who are currently enrolled in their school orchestra program, where available.
The Amoss Center is located on the Harford Technical High School campus at 200 Thomas Run Road in Bel Air, MD.
