Harford Community College Holds CNA and Dental Assistant Program Completion Ceremonies

A combined Completion Ceremony for fall 2024 Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Dental Assistant program completers was held on December 19 in Darlington Hall on the Harford Community College campus.

The event was hosted by the College’s Division of Nursing and Allied Health Professions with Renee Michalkiewicz, Director for Allied Health Programs and Dr. Ashley Meisel, Dean for Nursing and Allied Health Professions.

The ceremony opened with welcome and congratulatory remarks from Michalkiewicz, Dr. Meisel, and Heather Freeland, Instructor for the Nursing Assistant program. The student speakers for the CNA ceremony were Rachel McNeave, Kayla Mitchell and Emma Peacock.

Instructors Heather Freeland and Denise Vaughan pinned the Nursing Assistant graduates. Renee Michalkiewicz presented certificates to the Dental Assistant program completers.  One third of this successful group are currently high school seniors.

CNA students who received their pins during the ceremony included Jennifer Hipp, Rachel McNeave, Kayla Mitchell, Emma Peacock, Gabrielle Shaw, Madelynn Watters, Joann Weinberg, and Olivia Whipp.

Dental Assistant completers included Jayden Brown, Megan Dombroskie, Juan Gomez Correa, Alida Gonzalez, Abrianna Guzman, Isabelle Lutz, Mariah Messick, Kaiden Nguyen, Jayden Perry, and Micah Riley.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the occupational outlook for Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) and Dental Assistants is positive, with growth largely driven by an aging population increasing the demand for healthcare services.
