Harford Community College Holds Pinning Ceremony for Summer Nursing Graduates

The Summer 2024 Nursing Class Pinning Ceremony for Harford Community College’s associate degree nursing graduates was held on August 19 in the APGFCU Arena at Harford Community College. There were 21 graduates from the program in summer 2024.

The event was hosted by the College’s Division of Nursing and Allied Health Professions with Dr. Rebecca Diaz, Director for Nursing Education, and Dr. Ashley Meisel, Dean for Nursing and Allied Health Professions.

Congratulatory remarks were offered by Harford Community College President Dr. Theresa B. Felder. Full-time nursing faculty Jessica Powers, DNP, RN, NPD-BC, CNE, presented the pins; Faith Andrews, DNP, RN, CNE, handed the lamps to the graduates; and Amanda Girardi, PhD, RN, CNE, read the names of the graduates. Full-time nursing faculty Mary Kate Wiegand, MSN, RN, CCRN, led the graduates and all RNs in the audience as they recited the International Council of Nurses’ Pledge. Nursing Student Success and Remediation Specialist Brittany Daniels, BSN, RN, and Kristin McCreary, MSN, RN, Lab Staff, presented roses to the graduates. Jasmine Crank and Catherine Wehage were the graduating class speakers.

In addition to nursing uniforms worn by all graduates, members of the Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society and the Alpha Delta Nu Nursing Honor Society wore special cords to designate their membership. The two class speakers at the event also received recognition awards: Jasmine Crank received the Spalding Leadership Award – Art of Nursing and Catherine Wehage received the Spalding Leadership Award – Science of Nursing.

The nursing students who were pinned during the ceremony included Aqsa Arslan, Erin Benson, Taylor Bledsoe, Michael James Campbell, LaToya T. Chesil, Jasmine Crank, Jaela Ervin, Jodi-Ann Forbes, Rebekah Hager, Christina Katsafanas, Elyahsa McDonald, Alyson Elizabeth Nash, Marcey Newsome, Dionne Pugh-Swinton, Nakia Slowe, Jaclyn Smith, Alexis Isabella Stone, Zabreah Tancemore, Catherine Elizabeth Wehage, Tamikia Wilson, and Joy Young-Kingsbury.
