CETL Center for Excellence in Teaching & Learning

CETL began in 2015 as a grass-roots effort to create an organization that would support innovation and enhance student success at Harford Community College.

Since then, The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning at Harford Community College has promoted student success through multi-disciplinary collaboration, faculty development, communication, innovation, and coordination of teaching and learning activities.

The Center promotes exemplary teaching and transformative learning by providing opportunities for professional development, encouraging the scholarly discussion of teaching and learning, and fostering the implementation of best practices and innovative instruction to promote lifelong learning and student success. CETL also works with community partners to support the College's educational mission.

CETL provides physical and virtual spaces for cutting-edge technology and progressive pedagogies to:

  • Increase student achievement, retention and completion;
  • Improve support for and recognition of innovative teaching;
  • Maintain a forum for communication and campus-wide collaboration; and
  • Develop and strengthen of partnerships between Harford Community College and the community we serve.
