Harford’s Diversity, Inclusion, Culture and Equity Committee announced the winners of the 2024 Equity Awards at its 2nd Annual Equity Summit, held in June. The Awards recognize those who work toward fostering an inclusive community on campus and within Harford County.
The College recognized several employees for their scholarly or creative publications and works at the Campus Celebration & Employee Recognition Event in June. A plaque in the Library is updated each year to honor their works; this is the 15th year of the recognitions.
Harford is pleased to announce that 15 students completed their GED® in 2023-24. A ceremony honoring their achievements was held on June 24 in Darlington Hall. Those passing all four modules of the GED® exams earned a Maryland High School Diploma. Congrats to the new grads!
Harford’s president, Dr. Theresa Felder, announced that the College’s Board of Trustees has approved faculty tenure contracts and promotions to the ranks of Associate Professor and Professor, to become effective on August 15, 2024.
Brian Walker was elected Chair of the College’s Board of Trustees and Sharon Markley Schreiber was elected Vice Chair for 2024-25. Walker formerly served as Vice Chair and was appointed to the Board in 2018. Markley Schreiber was appointed to the Board in 2020.
Maryland’s Health Services Cost Review Commission and the Maryland Higher Education Commission awarded Harford a grant designed to increase the number of nurses in Maryland hospitals by funding professional development opportunities for its full-time nursing faculty.
The College is closed on June 19 in observance of Juneteenth, a federal and state holiday recognizing justice and freedom for African Americans and Black people in our country. It's the oldest known US celebration of the abolition of the chattel slave system, and the emancipation of enslaved African Americans.
The Harford Leadership Academy Class of 2024’s graduation banquet was held recently at the River Watch at Water's Edge in Belcamp, MD. This community leadership development program cultivates a committed, involved, and diverse network of leaders to serve Harford County.

Harford’s Alpha Delta Nu Nursing Honor Society, Gamma Upsilon Chapter, inducted new members in a ceremony recently. The chapter’s mission is to promote associate degree nursing to ensure excellence in the future of health care and professional nursing practice.
