Harford Community College in Bel Air, Maryland has received funding from the Maryland State Department of Education, Division of Career and College Readiness in the amount of $219,638. This funding is provided under the Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act of 2018 (Perkins V).

Harford Dance Theatre will hold auditions for “The Nutcracker” on Saturday, August 12 at the Susquehanna Center Dance Studio. All roles are open. Performances of this perennial holiday favorite will be held December 1-3.

Harford Community College held a GED Graduate Recognition Ceremony recently in Edgewood Hall. Twenty-four students ranging in age from 18 to 43 earned a Maryland High School diploma this past year through Harford’s program.
Adjunct instructor Aubrey Zinn, who teaches in Harford’s Arts & Humanities division, was recently named the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning’s Adjunct of the Year. Jordan McKeon and Tammy Webber were also nominated.
Several employees were recognized for their scholarly or creative publications and works at Harford’s Celebration and Appreciation event. A plaque in the College Library is updated each year to honor these authors and their works.
The June 30 "Rumours: A Fleetwood Mac Tribute" at Harford’s APGFCU Arena that was postponed is rescheduled for December 1 at 7:30 PM. Tickets and seating originally purchased for the event will be honored or refunded upon request.
Harford Community College is holding a free information session, “Is IT Right for ME?” on Tuesday, August 8 at 6 PM virtually via Microsoft Teams and in person on Wednesday, August 23 at 6 PM in the College’s Edgewood Hall, Room 215.

Harford’s new 12-month, 41-credit Certificate in Practical Nursing will prepare students for the licensure exam for practical nurses, and ultimately the NCLEX for Practical Nurses. The program is approved by the Maryland Board of Nursing.
Harford Community College was awarded a $5,000 Touring Grant from the Maryland State Arts Council (MSAC) to support a concert with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. The Touring Grant program was created to “spark and promote the artistic collaboration” between touring artists and their presenters, according to the MSAC.
The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra will celebrate the originality and independence of America’s finest composers at Harford’s APGFCU Arena, July 8, 7:30 PM. Tickets are “Pay What You Wish” with a suggested donation of $10 per ticket.
The Veterans SITREP radio series on 91.1FM WHFC debuts July 6 at 6:30 p.m. The show will connect veterans and their support networks with clear, concise and useful information about resources available to assist veterans.
Dr. Theresa Felder, Harford’s president, announced that Richard P. Streett III, DVM was re-elected Chair of the College’s Board of Trustees and Brian Walker was re-elected Vice Chair for 2023-2024 at its June Board meeting.

The Maryland State Arts Council has awarded Harford a grant of $44,285 as part of its Arts Relief Funding program to help return audiences to in-person events in a safe and fun-filled environment at the College’s theaters and Arena.
The National Council for Marketing & Public Relations announced recently that Harford’s Office of Communications won two Paragon Awards: Justin Bendis and Cynthia Courtney were recognized for excellence in their creative work.

Harford’s president, Dr. Theresa Felder, announced that the Board of Trustees approved faculty tenure contracts and promotions to the ranks of Associate Professor and Professor at its May Board meeting, to take effect August 15.
The Business Administration Certificate program at Harford Community College has been substantially modified. The total number of credits required to complete the certificate has been reduced from 24 to 16, allowing students to earn a certificate faster than before.
The Harford County Electrical Apprenticeship (HCECA) Program’s 42nd annual graduation took place on Friday, May 19, 2023, at the Amoss Center at Harford Technical High School. The graduation ceremony celebrated 75 graduates.

Phoenix Festival Theater will hold auditions for “The Sound of Music,” Wednesday through Friday, June 21-23 in the Chesapeake Theater at Harford Community College. Performances will be held at the Amoss Center in September.

Harford’s National Champion Fighting Owls men's lacrosse team was honored by the Harford County Government administration on May 25 at the county office building in downtown Bel Air with lunch and a proclamation presentation.
